photo class

Wed Apr 9, 2008, 9:32 PM
  • Listening to: the wind
  • Reading: Xenocide and Oryx & Crake
  • Watching: V for Vendetta
  • Playing: dropsum
  • Eating: cookies
  • Drinking: white cranberry strawberry juice
So I'm taking an intro photography class this quarter. And I developed my very first roll of film today. And pretty much the entire roll of film is unuseable. I didn't do anything wrong with the developing process; turns out one of the "light-sealed" rooms they use to take the film out of the roll and put it on the spool has a light leak in it. Guess which room I inadvertantly used?? Can ya guess? Yep, it was that one. *sigh* Thanks, Murphey. You bastard. :x

NoNoNoNo finished

Sun Nov 25, 2007, 9:39 PM
  • Listening to: Master & Commander soundtrack
  • Reading: Hunt for Red October (50 pages to go)
  • Watching: my computer screen
  • Eating: chips
  • Drinking: pepsi
I have finished, and I posted them on my photobucket instead of here because most of them are not very good. Link here: [link]

About 1 in 5 are pretty decent, in my opinion. Not very good odds, but the terms were to create 50 images, not 50 good images.

Also, I got to go to Hearst Castle yesterday, and as soon as I sort through the 160-odd pictures I took there, I may post some. Then again, maybe not.

Also also, my father has seen fit to replace my crappy 5mp hp camera with a crappy 8mp hp camera. Yay more megapixels and lack of flash/zoom/focus being broken, boo lack of viewfinder. Don't think I'll ever get used to it...

"They say a picture is worth 1000 words. So in response to those individuals who participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month - which encourages people to try writing a 50,000 word novel in November), you are invited to create 50 pictures between November 1st and Nov 25th.
You're welcome to join us.

You can do paintings, drawings, pencil sketches, collages, digital photography, print photography, graphic design, ink-blots, pastels, watercolors, pencil-crayons, Crayola crayons (Hey - get your kids involved!), or whatever tickles your fancy. Just do 50 images in those 25 days (which averages to 2 images per day). The focus is on quantity, not quality.

Post your works of art(?) to your website, or blog, or just show 'em to your friends at coffee. Who cares. It's not like we're a big nation-wide organization of nutcases, right?"

Sounds interesting. I think I shall attempt it, since my photography just has not been happening lately (this has mostly because sewing has almost entirely eaten my life, but I am forcing myself to take a break from sewing temporarily, and between now and Nov. 25th is as good a time as any to do so. Pictures may or may not get posted.

err...

I am deeply, solemnly, sincerely sorry for spamming all your new deviations pages. As has become the pattern, I probably won't post anything for another few months.

Holy frack, I've updated recently. (has not happened in months)
Haven't had much time for playing in photoshop, and haven't taken many photos recently as my camera is a tricksy little bugger. At some point I should go through all the clothes I made for SCA, take pictures, and post them, but don't expect anything soon...
Love to you all~
